About Us

To begin, thank you to all who have continued to help us to move forward; you are having a tremendous impact on our College and our community. We are determined to build upon the successes we’ve enjoyed and to take all that we’ve learned from our programs and services, our events and from you - our donors, friends and alumni - to ensure the best Canadore possible, TOGETHER.

In response partly to the fallout across employment sectors of the COVID-19 pandemic, and partly to many donors’ requests to have a greater and more direct impact on our students, in 2021 we created the Foundation’s new Umbrella Fund: an unrestricted fund with the primary purpose of supporting students with urgent financial needs. The reaction to our staff’s outreach for this new fund has been overwhelmingly positive; not only have we surpassed our initial fundraising targets, Canadore College’s Alumni have agreed to match all new Umbrella Fund donations to a maximum of $200,000.

We are pleased to also have developed new relationships and opportunities to support a previously under-represented group of students in our scholarships and bursaries programs. Our new partnerships with International Insurance and Stanford International College will allow the College to offer additional academic awards and financial assistance to students joining the Canadore family from outside Canada.

Elsewhere, we are seeing a gradual return to fundraising events as we once knew them, and we couldn’t be more excited. Our new TGIF Fundraising Dinner Series: a curbside version of our well-loved six-course gourmet fundraising dinners prepared by our Culinary program, has been extremely popular; but we do look forward to sitting down with our community supporters once again in the College’s student-run fine dining establishment, 100 Elements.

Again, we sincerely appreciate all the virtual meetings, phone calls and socially distanced events we’ve participated in with our donors, friends and alumni over the past two years. Although the style of our work may have looked a little different, you’ve helped us enjoy numerous successes and allowed us to continue doing the work we love: rising to meet the fundraising and development needs of Canadore, its students, and the communities we serve.
