The Canadore College Foundation provides leadership in meeting the long-term development and fundraising objectives established by the College to benefit students, programs, services and applied research at Canadore. The Foundation’s brand new Umbrella Fund has been created to direct donors’ unrestricted gifts to where they will have the most impact. These general purpose funds will be used to address immediate needs such as shortfalls in individual students’ transportation, food, educational or accommodations expenses; and to help ensure the Foundation has the operational capacity required to support its fundraising priorities.
Many of our students must work full-time to support themselves and their families while completing their programs; are single parents with dreams of improving the lives of their children; or are the first in their families to attend post-secondary. These capable and talented individuals go on to positively impact our community, our province and far beyond. Thank you for investing in our students and our future.
One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre (OKP) is a regional multi-service agency providing community based rehabilitation, specialized clinic services and related support services for children and youth (from birth to 19 years) with communication, developmental and physical disabilities. One Kids Place provides services to families in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. The Loan Equipment program (LEP), the first of its kind in all our districts & housed at our centres, allows families, caregivers and schools to borrow specialized equipment and therapy resources for periods of time when needed and once returned it is cleaned, refurbished and can be loaned out again. This program gives the opportunity for our children and youth to fully participate in their daily lives, with minimal limitations. This program also allows the equipment to be used to its full life cycle and purpose all while giving choice and opportunity to families on their child’s therapy equipment The LEP currently hosts over 1300 items and loans out an average of 550 items annually. This program is fully funded by donations and community support. One Kids Place welcomed 3324 unique individuals to their centres last year, which resulted in over 309,083 visits.
KidSport North Bay is our local chapter focused on increasing the accessibility of sport for under-resourced kids. It so important to actively advocate the value of sport for kids and communities. KidSport North Bay provides local sport introduction opportunities for kids to discover their true athletic passion and support this passion with financial assistance to individual families for registration and sports equipment costs.
The overall goal for KidSport North Bay is to ensure that all kids have the chance to play! Last year (2019) they helped ~225 kids participate in one of 18 sports/activities, totaling ~$46,000 distributed throughout our community. Ever since the OHL has come back to town, the KidSport North Bay partnership with the North Bay Battalion is critical, selling 50/50 at all home games. KidSport North Bay thanks everyone involved and everyone in the community, including our much appreciated and needed volunteers.
